Cordillera RDC, RPOC commend outgoing chairperson

BAGUIO CITY, June 25 (PIA) - - The Cordillera Regional Development Council and Regional Peace and Order Council recognized outgoing Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan for his outstanding chairmanship of both councils.

During the 2019 Second Quarter Joint RDC - RPOC meeting at The Mansion here on Monday, RDC officials headed by Council Vice - chair and NEDA Regional Director Milagros Rimando awarded a plaque of recognition to Domogan for his invaluable contributions in pushing for development in the region and for effectively managing the meeting of the council.

Domogan was also commended for being a Cordillera Autonomy advocacy champion and for leading the overall direction and advocacy of the BLISTT (Baguio, La Trinidad - Itogon - Sablan, Tuba and Tublay) Development Council where he also served as chairperson.

Meanwhile, RPOC Head Secretariat, DILG - CAR Regional Director Marlo Iringan assisted by Police Regional Director P/BGen Israel Ephraim Dickson handed a plaque of commendation to Domogan for his valuable contribution in the attainment of peace and development in Cordillera as the chairperson of RDC and RPOC and as a mayor of Baguio.

The body lauded Domogan for his willingness to take extra step and efforts, a manifestation of his passion for work and utmost dedication to public service that is worthy of emulation by other people in the government.

Iringan also gave Domogan a letter of commendation from DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano, chairperson of the National POC, in appreciation of the mayor's active participation, support and contribution as RPOC chair, as well as in appreciation of his unending support to the DILG programs and to President Rodrigo Duterte's thrust of pushing for safe and peaceful communities.

Domogan expressed his gratitude to all the officers and members of the RDC and RPOC who have been his active partners in pushing for peace and development in the Cordillera.

Presiding the RDC-RPOC meeting for the last time, he assured that even in his capacity as private citizen, he will continue to serve and support the advocacy for a peaceful and progressive Cordillera, as well as the region's pursuit for regional autonomy and development.

Domogan served as RDC chair from 2017 to 2019 and as RPOC chair from 2016 to 2019. Appointed as chairperson of these two important councils, Domogan moved for the joint conduct of meetings for cost effectiveness considering that membership to both councils is almost the same. Meetings were also conducted in the city and in the provinces for the members to see or experience for themselves situations on the ground.

Graduating as a three - term Mayor of Baguio for the second time in a political career spanning 31 years, Domogan goes back to private life as a practicing lawyer. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
