MEXICO CITY, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador international winger Renato Ibarra has joined Mexican club Atlas from their Liga MX rivals America.
The 29-year-old agreed to a 12-month loan with an option to make the deal permanent, according to a statement on Atlas's official website.
"An agreement has been reached. He has already successfully undergone the relevant medical tests and signed a contract," the statement read.
Ibarra, who has been capped 44 times for Ecuador's national team, is contracted to America until 2023.
The Liga MX Clausura season was canceled in May, two months after football was suspended in Mexico because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Liga MX officials announced last month that the Apertura tournament would begin on July 24, with matches to be played without fans until further notice.
